Will the barcode numbers that Speedy Barcodes sells work in countries outside of the United States and Canada?

Each country and each retailer have their own policies regarding barcode numbers and it is impossible for us to know what each requires, especially since they can change their policies without notification. What you will need to do is check with the retailers in the countries where you plan to sell your products to find out what their barcode requirements are. If they just tell you that you need a barcode or they may call it a UPC code or an EAN code, then ours will work. If they tell you that you must have a barcode starting with particular numbers, that the barcode number must originate in a specific country, that you need a certificate of ownership from GS1, that you must have a membership number or that your barcode must have any special certifications, then you must go to a company named GS1. All of the barcodes that we sell originated in the United States and all of the EAN barcodes we provide will start with 0. The UPC and EAN are the same barcode number, just in two different formats. You will automatically receive both formats of the barcode numbers when you make your purchase.

As of January 1, 2005, Sunrise 2005 INDUSTRY INITIATIVE, all barcode systems in the U.S. and Canada are required to be able to read EAN-13 bar codes. Any software or hardware capable of reading an EAN-13 symbol will automatically be able to read an UPC-12 symbol.

If your product is sold in the USA or Canada, use the UPC-12 barcode. If your product is sold in Europe, Asia, Australia, and the rest of the world, use the EAN-13 barcode. If you make a mistake and use the wrong UPC-12 or EAN-13, it should work everywhere because of the Sunrise 2005 INDUSTRY INITIATIVE.

Very Important!!! You must check with each countries custom's policy to find out what they require for you to import your product into their country. We know Vietnam requires your name to appear in GS1's database or they will not let your product into the country, but do not know about the rest of the world. It is your responsibility to check this out before you purchase barcode numbers.

We have customers worldwide that buy barcode numbers from us and are able to use them without any issues.
